The farm has been in the Strope family since 1901, when our family started raising cattle and hay. Great Grandma Lula grew grapes to feed and clothe a family of 10 kids, and the first tractor was purchased for the farm in 1956 by Great Uncle David. Before that, Great Grandpa John did everything by horse-drawn equipment. And the second tractor wasn’t purchased until the ‘80s, when Great Grandpa John bought it for $600.

Over the years, we have continued to raise cattle and hay, until 2011 when Bill started growing vegetables. Since then, our operation has added six high tunnels and greenhouses to expand the business for year-round produce production, as well as the newest addition to our product line; bedding and ornamental plants.

Strope Farms is still a family owned and operated farm. The whole family helps Bill run the vegetables and greenhouse side of the farm. Bill is thankful for Grandma Irene, Grandpa Robert, his dad, Rob, Uncle Kirby and Uncle Scott, Aunt Monica and his great uncles, aunts, and brothers and sisters, who all pitch in at Strope Farms.
